RIO GRANDE ESTATES (subdivision): Rio Grande Estates is a subdivision in Socorro County that was created many decades ago. It is conveniently located about a 10 minute drive from I-25, and nestled between two mountain ranges. Route 60 is the nearest main road. There are no zoning regulations! The beauty of this place is that you have peace and quiet but are still near to everything you need. The subdivision has dirt roads throughout, which are maintained pretty well and easily passable by truck or jeep, and even most sedans.
ROAD ACCESS: Yes, there is legal road access, as the county has created a grid map of future roads that connect to each parcel. However, not all roads have been cut out - you will have to create your own driveway to access this parcel. All of the area is flat and is easily accessible for most vehicles.
SEWAGE: Septic (buyer to install if needed)
WATER: A private well or water-hauling will need to be utilized. Well costs depend on drilling depth. Local drilling companies can give you a general estimate based on nearby well depths and explain the permitting process. For water hauling, here is a link to a Google list of companies relatively nearby, or you can call the Drinking Water Bureau and ask for a list of water hauling providers: (877) 654-8720.
POWER: Solar is often the most cost effective solution to set up in this area. However, if you would like to inquire about the cost of running power lines you can visit pnm.com/esg for details.
